On June 30, 2022 the South Hills Area Council of Governments (SHACOG) received bids for the 2022-23 purchasing season with Cargill, Inc. submitting the only complete bid in the amount of $88.96 per ton (an 8% increase from the previous purchase price). Please note, the increase can be attributed to the increased cost of transportation (which includes rail, truck and barge expenses). Participating municipalities must formally accept the bids received and give notice to Cargill, Inc. by August 29, 2022. A sample award letter that gives notice to Cargill, Inc. has been created by SHACOG and is available upon request. Please forward a copy of the letter you send to the vendor to the SHACOG office as well. Additionally, each participating municipality – no matter how small its usage – should, after formally accepting the bid, enter into a contract with the vendor using the bid specification contract document as the basis for the arrangement. Lastly, SHACOG will be finalizing the details for the pre-winter conference with the vendor. Details will be provided in the coming weeks.
