LINC Study Underway

2/22/2021

The strategic significance of the QVCOG geography has always been evident in our transporation.  Rails, roads, streetcars, buses...all have played a role, and impacted, our development.  Aligned with the Rt 65 Corridor Study , the LINC Study brings the Remaking Cities Institute at Carnegie Mellon to our communities again, this time looking at how our communities are linked.  LINC, stands for Linking our Networked Communities and is research  and strategies development  for local mobility.  How do we address critical needs for local/intra-community trips?

With a focus on Bellevue, Avalon, Ben Avon, Emsworth and Kilbuck, the study will work with local leaders to make r
ecommendations for improving mobility within these communities.  Among the items being explored
  • What tools and platforms including income-targeted rideshare, non-urban core micromobility strategies, and last-mile urban design are a fit for our towns?
  • Where are the  synergies with regional commuter-focused last-mile research, development, and deployment?
  • How can this lead to deployment, with improved access, quality of life, health, and sustainability for our residents and communities?

Elected officials,  staff and community members are asked to provide input to the study.  Additionally,  the team is making extensive use of GIS to paint a comprehensive picture of our region--it's realities, needs, and opportunities.  Members are asked to give the Team your full cooperation!  A report will be issued later in 2021.
